YOUNG museum visitor Will Steven had a go at writing his own limericks as he picked up lessons in rhyme and reason at the Ashmolean.

The 11-year-old visited the city museum’s exhibition on Victorian artist and writer Edward Lear on Wednesday.

The display, which features about 100 drawings and verses, opened in September and will be taken down tomorrow.

The Warwick School pupil said it was a nice idea to let visitors have a go at writing their own rhymes after touring the exhibition.

He said: “I really enjoyed it. The exhibition was really good. I liked the way it had been laid out.”

Mum Ginny, 44, said the museum had kept her two boys busy before they went back to school.

She said: “There is a lot to see there and we will have to go back many times.”
