TRIBUTES have been paid to a promising law student who died after being hit by a car in Oxford.

Vandana Singh died at the scene of the collision last Monday.

The 21-year-old, who was studying law at Exeter College, was hit by a Ford Ka as she walked along the A40 at Headington at 10.30pm.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the car was taken to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital for treatment for shock.

The Rector of Exeter College, Frances Cairncross, said: “Exeter College is grieving for the loss of Vandana Singh, a third-year law student, killed in a road accident last Monday night. “Dana was a lovely and beautiful girl, who was at the heart of college life and is deeply missed by everyone who knew her. “Our hearts go out to her family and her many friends.”

Miss Singh grew up in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

She attended Pate’s Grammar School in the town before coming to Oxford to study.
