A KRAUTROCK legend helped city stars rock out for the homeless at a charity festival.

Damo Suzuki – former singer with 1970s Krautrock heroes Can – headlined the Audiosonic event at the Jericho Tavern on Saturday.

The sold-out event, which is in its 12th year, raised £2,000 for homeless charity Shelter.

The 200-capacity show of 10 acts included city bands Message To Bears, Gunning For Tamar and Listing Ships and US folk rock act Arbouretum.

Organiser Stuart Fowkes said the Can star’s improvised set – featuring five drummers and two keyboardists – suited the diverse bill.

He said: “It was great. The general consensus was it is the best we have done for three or four years, it had sold out by quite early in the day.”

Organisers have also released a download-only album of 40 tracks for the charity.

Music For A Good Home Two includes exclusive tracks by Wire and Ride as well as local acts and is available at audioscope.co.uk
