Villagers ignore police surgeries
A POLICE Community Support Officer spent hours pinning up notices about a series of police surgeries in Oxfordshire - but no one turned up.
Police Community Support Officer Tom Mynehan said surgeries were held in Cholsey, Moulsford, the Hagbournes and the Tirrolds earlier this month.
But he said: "Unfortunately nobody attended at any of the locations, even with those bright pink leaflets I spent hours pinning up everywhere!
"The idea of these surgeries is to make police with good local community knowledge accessible to all on a local level to discuss any issues that residents may have.
"I would like to encourage residents to attend these surgeries as they are an invaluable tool in giving us information to make their community a safer place to live."

Maybe that's because they want a real Police officer instead of a hobby-bobby?
You know - someone with some real power..?

Not seen any of these flyers anywhere.......and anyway....isn't that littering/fly posting which the local councils are trying to cut out?

Invaluable tool for giving information, thease idiot should spend more time on the streets rather than having there stupid workshops, then they would know what the problems are.

If you actually knew what some of the PCSO's have to go through on a daily basis maybe you three wouldn't be so damned rude. It's nice to see PCSO's patrolling the streets on a daily basis, I know where I live it's been needed for a long time, and does make Abingdon feel safer. I do a job along the same lines but in the Prison Service, but just because we aren't prison officers, doesn't mean we are any less important than them?
I'd like to see all of you try (and probably fail) to do a PCSO's job for a week.

The problem is that people have no respect for them because they're pretty much powerless. In the cities, their main role seems to be stopping innocent people taking photographs for no apparent reason.....good use of time I say!

HE. I know policemen and PCSO's, and real Prison Officers. The wannabes will never be much more than that! They are a confidence trick perpetrated upon the public by government. Impersonating a police officer used to be a criminal offence, now it is government policy.

I think John in Wallingford should take a look at his spelling before posting such idiotic comments!

I was in Abingdon yesterday at 4pm buying my Bath Bun from the Baker's Oven, when a large group of youths on bicycles began circling the benches in the middle, using very foul language. The hooby-bobby I saw standing, watching, with his arms folded across his chest did nothing.

Several cars were broken into and items stolen while the owners played foolball in Abingdon the other day. The police couldn't even be bothered to go and investigate that. They did **** all when my car was vandalised last year as well. If real police can't be bothered, what chance is there from these pretend police ? They are all useless.

Loads of cars were spray painted on Friday night in Abingdon - what did the police do? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! They were not in the slightest bit bothered. I reported one incident to the Non-emergency number and the operator asked me "what do you expect us to do about it? You didn't see it happen and you don't know which direction they went in" No she was quite right, I didn't see who had done it but if I had, you can guarantee that I would probably be in a police cell because I'd have battered them! The police - be it real ones or the plastic ones - are a useless bunch of morons!

To L.B. What does spelling have to do with having an opinion, you idiot.

Perhaps if the police attended incidents then people would attend their meetings?
Having seen two of the Commiunity Support Officers in action yesterday I would suggest they are useless! The people they warned off walked round the blcok and came back! By which time the officers were long gone!
