Twelve to Two: AT the retirement group's lunch meeting in the memorial hall on Wednesday, April 18 at noon, Mark McDermott an expert in church history and architecture, will give a presentation on Trull church.

Mission Aid: The work being done by the Isubilo charity in a very deprived area of Ndola in Zambia was described by its director and founder, Andy Patching, in a presentation at the parish church. He encouraged and supports the Zambian staff to take responsibility for their own people and with their help is able to reach out to many orphans and adults with HIV/aids. An audience of 75 learnt more about the mission at a question and answer session afterwards in the school hall. Donations in aid of the charity amounted to £347.

Sponsored runs: Charity runner Mary Dunmall hopes to take part in the Taunton Half-Marathon on April 1, the Black Death Run at Combe Sydenham (10 miles) on May 6 and the Midsummer Dream Pub Run in the Seaton area (18 miles) on June 23.

Sponsorship forms are available in the church and local shops. Mary is raising money for Taunton's Ablemarle Centre, which does so much to help disadvantaged people, but she is also providing a separate sponsor form for the NSPCC, which is the marathon's official charity this year. She is hopeful that Rentokil will again double the amount raised.

Fun Walk: Questions along the way and a prize for every child that finishes are promised for the Trull fun walk, which starts with briefing at the school between 2 and 2.30pm on Sunday, April 22 and lasts about an hour and a half. Refreshment and cakes will be on sale in school on the walkers' return. Entry fees are £1.50 adult, £1 child.
