AT A recent meeting, Nicola Musto, the Beckenham Town Centre Manager, brought members up-to-date with events and future plans for Beckenham High Street.

The rumour McDonald's wished to move into Kennedy's shop premises was soundly refuted.

McDonald's has no intention of setting up in Beckenham.

Nicola and society chairman David Wood outlined the plans for Beckenham Green to be developed to provide a good community asset.

This includes new paths, flower beds, a raised platform near St George's Church and a new town sign.

It is proposed the popular markets will continue in May and September.

Nicola's enthusiastic dedication was greatly appreciated by her audience.

Then there was a short presentation by David of his excellent slides of his holiday in Argentina.

At this month's meeting Julian Burton, the Balfour Beatty project director, will be guest speaker.

He will tell members about the progress of the building on the Beckenham Hospital site, which is nearing completion of the first stage.

The meeting will be on April 12 at 8pm in the Public Halls, Bromley Road, Beckenham.
