A back to basics approach could see Dorchester end their current slump, according to defender Scott Morgan.

The Magpies travel to play Nation-wide Conference South title-chasing Salisbury City tonight at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium (7.45pm) and are without a win since January 13. But Morgan believes it will take one result - and a little bit of luck - to spur the team on.

The 31-year-old, who is in his second spell with the Magpies and has made 140 appearances for the club, said: "The teams at the bottom are winning games so we have got to buck our ideas up.

"We have got to stick together and work as a team and get the basics right.

"We need to go back to basics and dig out a result."

Dorchester have collected four points from six league fixtures in 2007 and, with teams in the lower reaches of the division picking up points, the Magpies are in danger of slipping into the relegation zone.

The latest reverse saw the Magpies lose 2-1 to Basingstoke Town at the Avenue Stadium on Saturday when the Magpies created 13 chances in the first half alone.

"We are not having the best of luck at the moment," added Morgan, who started his career at West Ham United. "We are putting a lot of pressure on teams and just not finishing our chances."

The uncompromising defender believes the season run-in, which sees the club play 17 matches in 10-and-a-half weeks, could help - if the team can get one victory.

"It could work in our favour with that many games coming up. We just need one result and we can kick on from there.

"We know what we have got to do and hopefully we can have a strong finish to the season but it is not going to be easy."

The Whites are unbeaten in 11 league matches and are a point off top spot with three games in hand. They have suffered one home defeat all season, to Braintree Town, Dorchester's opponents this Saturday.
