mark wilson in pamplona Nacho Novo yesterday revealed that he holds a long-standing ambition to run with the bulls in Pamplona's most famous festival. For now, though, he will settle for being chased out of town after having beaten the locals' favourite team.

The striker is delighting in a return to Spain for tonight's UEFA Cup second leg against Osasuna in the Estadio Reyno de Navarra and would treasure a goal to aid Rangers' progress.

"It has been six years for me in Scotland now," he said. "I don't speak much Spanish these days so I can forget what to say when I come back here on holiday, but it would mean a lot for me to score in this game.

"A goal in any game is important but here in Pamplona, with my family and friends watching, would be extra special.

"It's going to be a tough match but if we play as we did against Hapoel Tel Aviv or Celtic, then we can do the business.

"Osasuna do not lose many games in their own stadium but I am feeling quite positive. There is no bigger game to win than an Old Firm one in terms of generating confidence for the next challenge."

The world-renowned festival of San Fermin, which takes place in the second week of July, is when Pamplona's narrow streets become crowded with thrill-seekers seeking to dodge injury from a large lump of prime beef.

"I've never been to it but I would love to visit the festival some day," said Novo, who hails from the Galicia region of north-west Spain.

"I have friends who have been involved and they say that it's amazing. Obviously, because of pre-season, I cannot make it just now but its something I hope to do later on, probably when my career is over. Hopefully, I can still run fast enough."
