A local business has come to the rescue of a local theatre company by offering to provide the unique pair of dark rimmed glasses, that are generally considered to be the trademark of the famous rock n' roll legend Buddy Holly.

They will be worn in the forthcoming production of Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story' at Yeadon Town Hall in November.

Kathryn Stott Optometrists, who have had a successful ongoing relationship with the Grove and Rawdon Theatre Company over several years, offering sponsorship for their main productions in May, have kindly agreed to provide the very distinctive glasses required for the star of this show. The theatre company is delighted that the character of Buddy Holly, played by the very talented young man Roger Rowley, will be expertly fitted out with glasses which are such a vital part of his persona.

The company has already put out a request to the public for any Buddy artefacts or memorabilia from Buddy's tour of England that may be of interest and could help to add authenticity to the show. Buddy is a musical celebration of the legendary singer/songwriter who shot to fame in 1957, only to die in a plane crash two years later, alongside his friends and co-performers Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper.

His songs, Peggy Sue', Rave On', Heartbeat', True Love Ways' and many more, live on in what has been billed as The World's Most Successful Rock and Roll Musical'.

The company is thrilled to have been given the performing rights for this sensational rock n' roll show and is equally thrilled by this generous offer, which is sure to help to make the production even more authentic.

This show is proving to be very popular, with the shows on November 17 and 18 already almost fully booked.

Anyone wishing to see Buddy' is recommended to book a seat early to avoid disappointment.

The show will be performed at Yeadon Town Hall from November 14 - 18 at 7.30pm. Tickets from £8 can be obtained by ringing the Box Office on: 0700 044 6267
