Oxford Cheetahs have shown the door to young polish rider Adrian Miedzinski after just two meetings.

The move comes despite the strong performance against Peterborough on Friday.

In an effort to strengthen the side, team manager Mick Horton brings in seasoned campaigner and former England international Andy Smith.

Smith rode for Oxford under the Silver Machine banner a couple of years ago, and is the only rider to have won the British Championship three years in a row.

Smith will make his first appearance against his former club, Belle Vue, on Friday, where he began his career as a 17 year-old.

Smith rode for Reading last year and will bring more strength to the middle order and compliment Cheetahs heat leaders.

Team boss Horton said: "I would like to thank Adrian for his services this season and wish him continued success in his speedway career.

"However, we want to show fans that we are serious about taking Oxford forward and the experience of Andy Smith and his points scoring will help us do just that.

"The rest of the boys are settling in well, but it is important that we hit the ground running early in the season and this change should reflect that."
