AFC Calne were unable to raise a side for their trip to The Ship FC which cost them the chance to reclaim top spot in Division Two from the British Lion OC who were in cup action.

Rowde moved ahead of Calne and into second spot and just one point behind the Lion after they thumped FC Bradford 15-1, but despite their heavy loss Bradford received plaudits from their hosts for their outstanding sporting behaviour throughout the game.

Marcus Wallen and Jamie Mullens scored five goals apiece, Ray King bagged a couple, Scott Burgess, who replaced Mullens, scored from the penalty spot and Rob Mitchell and Martin Robinson made up the 15.

Bradford's highlights came when Dan Parker scored their consolation and Jason Harford, who almost scored from the halfway but his cheeky effort hit the bar.

With Sutton Benger unable to use Stanley Park in Chippenham, it looked as if Southwick Sports would miss out for another week, but a hastily arranged match saw The Ship host Southwick and it was the Ship who prevailed with a 4-3 victory in their first league match since before Christmas.

The Ship fell behind to a delightful lob from Dan Alford and a brilliant 20 yard strike from Carl Davies which gave Southwick a 2-0 advantage. Danny Amorouso's first goal for the Ship halved the arrears before Dave Percival drew the hosts level with his 15th goal of the season.

advertisement Two more second half goal from Percival put the Ship 4-2 ahead before Southwick's recent signing Sam McWade scored a late goal on his debut to give Southwick hopes of a late fight back, but the Ship held out to take their seventh win of the campaign from only 10 games.

It was a day of firsts for The Crown Devizes who recorded their first victory in five attempts with a 5-1 triumph over The Horse and Groom.

Matt Nash who scored two of the Crown's goal but the three other scorers chalked up their first strikes for the club. Robert Hannah hit the net for the first time this season, Andrew Beaven-Witts scored on his debut having moved from Potterne and Nick Morris found the target for the first time in three years.

And for Tim Beecham, scorer of the Horse's consolation, it was his first goal since April 2005.
