North Ferriby 0 Guiseley 2

Guiseley's excellent away win was marred by an horrendous injury to Stuart Gray on a night that should have led to nothing other than celebration.

The victory took Guiseley's unbeaten run to 11 games and it foiled the UniBond League club of the month curse.

Neil Parsley had led his side to the Premier Division's accolade for September and such a feat usually signals a poor result in the next game.

Guiseley avoided that but the misfortune struck in another way as Gray, the son of former Leeds and Scotland winger Eddie, was left behind at Hull General.

"It was a good win overshadowed as it is sickening to see that kind of injury but we have to accept it is an occupational hazard," said Parsley.

"The best wishes of everybody at Guiseley go out to Stuart. It was just an accident, not a bad challenge and it does happen.

"When we left he was in theatre after x-rays, so we know it is serious. I have to commend my players on how they reacted to that.

"They are a credit to the club and did Stuart proud, every man jack of them."

The match finished after 10pm because of the delay in treating Gray, who lost a lot of blood, on the pitch before he could be whisked away to the infirmary.

Scott Jackson netted both of the goals in the win - which seemed secondary after the previous events - with strikes late in each half.

His first was a side-footed volley and his second, in the 89th minute, was a fantastic long-range shot into the top corner.
