A £700,000 investment programme at one of South Lakeland's leading hotels has been officially unveiled.
John Derbyshire, performance director of the Royal Yachting Association, and head of the British sailing team at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, which claimed three golds and two silver medals, launched a new £350,000 marina at the Low Wood Hotel, near Ambleside.
And a similar sum has been ploughed into a major refurbishment of the reception area and lounges at the four-star Low Wood - the flagship of the English Lakes Hotels group.
English Lakes Hotels invested in the new marina in the wake of the 10mph speed limit on Windermere, which virtually ended waterskiing and power boating on the lake.
