CHURCH will host the Lancashire League Twenty20 final on Friday as they face Ramsbottom in a clash to savour.

Andrew Bentley’s men booked their final fling with Jon Fielding’s Ramsbottom after beating Edenfield in their semi-final.

Church will be looking to emulate the success of the 1974 Worsley Cup winning side who beat Nelson in the last senior final to be staged at West End.

Church will be looking to avenge the 2002 Worsley Cup final defeat at the hands of a Ramsbottom side featuring current Australian vice-captain Michael Clarke.

Church have won all five games in the tournament this year with the latest one coming at the expense of Ribblesdale League raiders Edenfield at West End.

They were restricted to 124-6 in their innings but a highly efficient performance in the field proved decisive.

Wicket-keeper Sam Tucker claimed four victims, while Bentley claimed three wickets as Edenfield were 103 all out.

Ramsbottom booked their place in the final with a nine run win over Nelson.

Rammy made 172-5 with Francois du Plessis 60 and David Bell 64 putting on 112 for the first wicket.

A brilliant innings by Thomas Lord as he hit 68 with six fours and five sixes before falling to a sensational catch from du Plessis on the boundary edge.

The last three wickets fell for two runs as Ramsbottom got into the final for the first time.
