CHINGFORD MP Iain Duncan Smith, an ex-serviceman himself, was one of those who paid tribute to the war dead on Sunday morning.
He joined local councillors, members of the Royal British Legion, their families and local residents at the memorial on the corner of the Ridgeway and Kings Head Hill for the two-minute silence at 11am followed by the laying of wreaths.
Before the traditional ceremony, the group marched from the Municipal Offices in The Ridgeway, and after it they took part in a service at the nearby SS Peter and Paul Church.
