Enterprising students on The Roseland were given the chance to present their ideas to the public during a visit from Tregony WI members.

The women were treated to two presentations from year ten students at The Roseland Community School, who had formed two communities as part of the Young Enterprise Scheme.

One company, called The Bag-its, has developed eco-friendly bags, while another one called Recordware has produced bowls and clocks made of mould vinyl records.

The students explained to the women how they set up their companies, ran the companies and bank accounts, and the shareholders they were responsible for, as well as details of the products that they sold.

The companies gave separate presentations to the ladies and answered the questions given to them. This was followed by an opportunity for the ladies to purchase some of the products and an informal chat about how the pupils' got along and communicate with each other.

Liz Bircharll, who runs the scheme at the school, said: "The WI members gave the students a different perspective on their products and in turn the students gave the ladies a chance to see what they did at school."
