WASPS coach Shaun Edwards has challenged the players to emulate the 2004 vintage and prove they have the stomach to perform on the big occassion.

He said: "The big games start against Leinster. The 2004 team performed in the big games, it's yet to be seen from this team.

"We're reaching the business end of things and we hope this team can now perform to the same standards and if not better.

"The standard of opposition this week is of the highest class and we'll see if we're good enough."

But he knows it won't be easy.

He said: "In my job as defensive coach I've tried to do a tip sheet but there are that many tips it's turned into a small novel.

"Leinster have so many attacking threats it's impossible to cover every one of them."

But while admitting it will be a huge test for his player, Edwards is excited by the challenge.

He said: "You can sense the atmosphere round here. Even myself, I wake up and think it's the Heineken Cup quarter final and it's been three long years.

"We've been looking on very enviably in the last couple of years. It gives you a big tingle up your spine when you get this far and we want to still be in the competition when we wake up on Sunday."
