MALVERN Hills College student Teisha Preece has designed a poster to encourage the town's dog owners to clear up after their pets.

Teisha, 18, who is a student on the college's Work Skills programme, designed the poster as part of a lesson on rights and responsibilities.

Her teacher, Caron Miller, was so impressed she showed it to Malvern Hills District Council street scene warden, Gordon Morris, and now the poster is to be put up in the college grounds as a reminder to dog owners.

Mrs Miller said the Street Scene Wardens were also happy for the poster to be put up else where and some had already been posted along the track between Court Road and Geraldine Road, near QinetiQ and the Science Park.

Mrs Miller explained that lessons were kept as "real and practical as possible", drawing where possible on the students' own experiences.

"As a class we use the college fields a lot and they are used by dog walkers and not everyone does clean up so when we discussed rights and resonsibilities we looked at the right to own a dog and the corresponding responsibility people have to clean up their dog's mess," she explained.

The council's street scene wardens agreed to come and talk to the class about their work and it was agreed that the council would reproduce the poster for use in the college grounds and elsewhere.

"The students work very hard and the issue of rights and responsibilities really got them talking and thinking about things," added Mrs Miller.
