GMTV'S new mum of the year says she is "over-the-moon" with her award.
Peggy Bush, of Landermere Road, Thorpe, was chosen as winner by viewers of the programme this week.
The 72-year-old said: "I didn't think I'd win - there were four very good entrants.
"I thought the lady who had fostered 400 children would get it."
She added: "I'm over the moon."
Mrs Bush and her granddaughter Adele Milleare, who nominated her for the award, took a trip to the GMTV studios to receive her prizes - a family holiday to Majorca and £1,000 spending money.
Mrs Milleare, 21, said: "It was a total surprise to hear nan had won.
"You hope for it and think they deserve it but you're never sure.
"It's a shame there had to be a winner really because they were all so good - but obviously I was really happy for my nan."
Mrs Bush dedicated her life to her family when her daughter Lynne and son-in-law Jim were both diagnosed with terminal illnesses in the mid-1980s.
She gave up her job to look after them full-time, as well as their young children Katie, now 22, Adele and James, 18.
