In reply to Shirley Coates, I would say, having been a councillor, she should know better!
Personal attacks on politicians do not work and often backfire. The people of Canvey are well aware Dave Blackwell is the longest-serving member of Castle Point Council.
The work he does for our island is unmatched by any other councillor. He does more for the environment and wildlife that any other councillor.
She says the Conservatives run an efficient council, but I would challenge her on that point and ask some questions.
Why, I would like to ask her, has the council not set a budget for the environment?
Why does chairman of planning, Bill Sharp, openly support building on the green belt?
Why has Castle Point allowed the Canvey 2000 project to collapse?
Why are the broken streets and pavements still full of rubbish?
Why have no projects been started for the youth on the island?
Do you still think the Conservatives run an efficient council? I don't
