A GIANT rabbit who is thought to be the world's biggest bunny is set to become a super-sized star.

The Worcester News reported last month that continental giant Amy had outgrown her mate Roberto, previously the largest known rabbit.

Since then, she and owner Annette Edwards have been inundated by requests for TV appearances.

In the weeks after our report, Amy, who measures 4ft from back legs to front paws and weighs in at about 35lb, featured on ITV's GMTV and Channel 4's Richard and Judy.

Tomorrow, viewers of ITV's This Morning will also have the chance to see Amy when she appears on the show with presenters Fern Britton and Philip Schofield.

Even if the current furore dies down, Amy still has a glittering career ahead of her.

A DVD about her life is due to be launched at Wookey Hole on Tuesday, March 27, and she has been booked to make personal appearances at pet stores around the country.

Mrs Edwards, a former model, set up pet shop Bunnyland in Lowesmoor Wharf, Worcester, four years ago after moving to the city when her mother became ill.

She bought giant rabbit Roberto, who also became famous, before deciding he needed a wife.

However, a mock ceremony in which the two rabbits wore wedding costumes last April caused a sensation among animal cruelty campaigners.

The pair have since had 32 babies and one of them, Jack, starred in a Channel 4 programme Animal Farm last night. The animals have become so popular Mrs Edwards, of Pershore Road Worcester, now delivers Bunnyland's services by appointment rather than as a shop to free her time.

Mrs Edwards said: "It's been lovely. Amy and Roberto, they just love it. When I started buying bunnies it was more of a hobby. I didn't realise all this was going to happen."
