Swindon siblings Henry and Stephanie Firth have won dream parts in two top stage shows.

The pair, from Bouverie Avenue, impressed at auditions in Bristol and London and are to start rehearsing for the big time.

Henry, an eight-year-old pupil at Holy Rood School, will take up his part as a street child in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on Thursday in Bristol.

Sister Stephanie, 13, will start rehearsals for her role as a dancer in the stage version of Billy Elliot on April 15.

After four rounds of auditions Henry got the part of Toby, the smallest Vulgarian child. He said: "There were lots of people there but they told me on the day I had got through.

"I enjoyed it and am looking forward to playing the role."

Henry went along with his other sister Sammie who wanted a part, but he was the one who impressed the most.

Mum Bozena said: "He did extremely well and didn't let nerves get the better of him."

Stephanie, a pupil at St Joseph's College, travelled to London for her audition. She said: "I'm very happy, I really didn't expect anything.

"I went to audition at Pineapple Dance Studios where I did ballet, pointing, tap, modern dance, singing and acting.

"A few days later they contacted me to say I had got through, which surprised me because I thought the ballet had gone badly."

Stephanie has been dancing for 10 years and has been in pantomime at the Wyvern Theatre. She has reached the All England Dance finals and last year took part in the National Youth Ballet.

Bozena said: "She's really excited to be performing in the West End. Rehearsals go on for about six weeks and she will be performing from June until December along with four other girls from Swindon."

Bozena thinks her children have inherited their talents from their grandparents. She said: "Their Polish grandmother Janina was a singer and their grandfather Lucjan played accordion in his band.

"On the Welsh side, grandpa Naylor is the chairman of Chepstow Male Voice Choir. I'm sure it'll be a great experience for them both - watching the professionals and singing to a full orchestra must be amazing."

The pair are the latest Swindon youngsters to make their mark on the stage.

Emily Gara, 10, of Abbey Meads, and Charleigh Webb, 11, of Rodbourne, have also won parts in Billy Elliot.
