Village Hall ON Thursday, March 29 the Village Hall Management Committee will hold the annual meeting at 7.30pm in the village hall. Keep up to date with community amenities and go along to see what's happening.

St Andrew's Church SERVICES for Mothering Sunday are: Family Service at 10.30am and Holy Communion and Healing Service at 6.30pm.

Parish Council Meeting ITEMS raised by the members of the public who attended the meeting were overhanging foliage on Coppice Road, ongoing concerns for a 30mph speed limit on Ford Lane and information of the meeting to be available for the Alresford Advertiser. Pressure is to remain regarding the speed limit on the B1027.

Letters have been exchanged regarding a footbridge across Alresford Creek. This will be discussed further at a later meeting. No further information was available on the mobile libraries or on new gravel extraction sites.

Cllr G Scott reported that the new bus shelter is proving very popular and that opportunist bicycle thefts had been reported. Litter and worse was making the station waiting area disgusting. This has been reported to Network Rail and a clear up operation would be undertaken. Complaints received regarding the bus shelter at The Pointer. It was agreed that demolition and a replacement should be considered.

PCSO Louise Cox reported that a potential bike thief had been identified. Parking will be monitored on a daily basis, the main areas being Ford Lane and Station Road. Cars being abandoned on the yellow zig zag line outside the school are also a concern.

A monthly surgery is in the process of being arranged for PC Jo Bennett, with suggested sessions in St Andrew's Church perhaps in both afternoons and evenings, for residents concerns to be expressed. A bench, to be sited at the War Memorial has been chosen and agreed.

Playing field working party reported that repairs should be put in hand now with improved weather conditions.

The next meeting of the parish council will be held on Wednesday, April 4 at 7.30pm in the Pavilion at the rear of the village hall.

Road Closure: Please note that the level crossing at Station Road will be closed to traffic from 11pm tomorrow, until 7am on Sunday.

Horticultural Society THE annual meeting of the Alresford Horticultural Society took place on Monday, March 5. The formal part of the evening included the chairman's report, the treasurers report and election of the officers:Chairman, Colin Quy; secretary, Angela Quy; treasurer, Martin Wood; committee: Brian Crick (society outing and seeds), Angela Crick, Hilda Newbold and Sheila Reid.

A welcome addition to the committee is Mr David Bebby who will assist with the preparation and arrangements for the Autumn Show. The society outing this year is to Syon Park.

The Village Hall representative for the society is Mrs Jennie Pettitt There followed a cheese and wine buffet which was enjoyed by the 40 members who were present. If you wish to renew your membership or to join the society please contact me or come along to one of the following meetings.
