We write to assure residents of both Withdean ward and the city as a whole that we are continuing to work with schools and residents to find a way through the controversial secondary schools admissions process which your Conservative councillors opposed.
We very much regret that the controversial schools admissions process has set parents against each other across the city.
This is an appalling state of affairs when more consideration should have been given at an earlier date to bringing people together by raising standards in all secondary schools across the city rather than agreeing to this divisive process.
Before this decision was reached, we decided to set up a local Withdean ward community forum so we could work with residents, schools and local organisations to ensure we fully represent the views of the residents.
- Ann Norman, Ken Norman and Pat Drake, Brighton and Hove city councillors for Withdean ward, Brighton
