THE annual Mona Dawe West Cornwall Table Tennis League Divisional Championship was staged at the Cornwall Table Tennis Centre, Tregorrick Park, St Austell, writes Brian Nicholls.

Once again West Cornwall youngsters were well to the fore by winning a large proportion of the divisional singles and doubles titles.

Results Premier Division - singles: J Willams (Falmouth Docks) beat M Rule (Falmouth Docks) 3-1. Doubles: A Noott/J Williams (Falmouth Docks) beat S Lobb/M Peters (Falmouth Docks).

First Division - singles: D Williams (Falmouth Docks) beat S Cuffin (Mylor) 3-0. Doubles: B Bridges (Mylor)/M Snowden (Falmouth Docks) beat R Trevorrow/D Smith (St Ives) 3-2.

Second Division - singles: A Henderson (Peoples Palace) beat L Chinn (Falmouth Docks) 3-1. Doubles: L Chinn/C Peters (Falmouth Docks) beat H McGhee/Y Ghanan (Peoples Palace) 3-2.

Third Division - singles: C Bassett (Peoples Palace) beat I Hatch (Forest Green) 3-0. Doubles: C Bassett/J Bassett (Peoples Palace) beat T Stacey/J Ryan (Mounts Bay) 3-0.

Fourth Division - singles: J Todd (Peoples Palace) beat S Holden (Falmouth Docks) 3-2. Doubles: S Holden/J Cruise (Penryn College) beat N Jones (St Ives)/R Cashmore (Penryn College).

Handicap singles: C Peters (Falmouth Docks) beat A Henderson (Peoples Palace) 83 points to 80 points.

Going into the final quarter of the West Cornwall Table Tennis League 2006/7 season, the top positions in each division remain unchanged. Peoples Palace H have drawn level with Mounts Bay at the top of division three and their match on March 15 is crucial for top honours.

With the exception of division four, the top places could well be decided in the final week of the season.
