Bomb disposal experts were called in after a security alert was mounted at a hotel.
Emergency services rushed to the four-star Marks Tey Hotel soon after 1pm yesterday when staff became concerned a suspicious package may be on the premises.
Scores of guests, visitors and employees were moved from the hotel, in London Road, Marks Tey, in a fire drill-type evacuation as a team from the Royal Logistic Corps' army bomb disposal unit scoured the scene.
A 100-metre cordon was set up around the hotel as specially-trained explosives experts carried out a thorough search of the hotel's 110 bedrooms and surrounding 200-space car park.
It is thought suspicious e-mails may have been sent to the premises before the bomb alert.
No-one from the hotel wished to comment on the events yesterday.
It is thought business at the hotel was back to normal last night. The search was called off at 8.15pm. Nothing was found.
