A WOMAN who was admitted to hospital after allegedly suffering a serious assault has died.
The 38-year-old was admitted to a south London hospital after allegedly being attacked on February 14.
She was transferred to a central London hospital two days later in a critical condition. She died the following day.
The investigation into her death has now been taken over by the Met's homicide investigation team and inquiries are continuing.
Matthew Leonard, of Newlands Park, Sydenham, was arrested in Bromley on February 17 in connection with the incident.
The 37-year-old appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court on February 19, charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.
Leonard was remanded in custody and will appear at Croydon Crown Court on February 22.
