A FIRSWOOD primary school has scored top marks in its latest Ofsted report.
Kings Road Primary School was described as outstanding by inspectors following a visit to the school at the beginning of January.
They claimed it was a very happy school', a fact that could be seen clearly on the smiling faces of the pupils and adults.' Rod Allan, chairman of governors at the school, said: "I am extremely proud of the Ofsted report and would like to thank the headteacher, Mrs Galt and all staff, pupils, fellow governors and parents who make Kings Road Primary so successful."
Outstanding grades were handed out for achievement and standards, personal development and well-being, teaching and learning, curriculum, care, guidance and support and leadership and management.
There was special praise for the leadership and management which was seen as generating a real sense of teamwork so that everyone shares a common commitment to constant improvement and the setting of high expectation.' The progress made by the pupils and their attitude to the school was also highlighted.
Pupils' social, moral, spiritual and cultural education was meanwhile described as being of the highest order'.
Ian Mullins, executive councillor for children and young people's services, said: "This is an excellent achievement for the school and I know the pupils and staff at Kings Road are extremely dedicated to learning and development which is clearly demonstrated in performance as well as this report.
The only improvement to be made according to inspectors, was for the school to raise achievement in maths at key stage two.
