POLICE are continuing to appeal for the return of a giant toy penguin stolen in a raid on a supermarket.

The model of Mumble, the lead character in the animated film Happy Feet, was snatched from Asda in Blackburn.

It was due to be donated to a school after the winner of a raffle for the cartoon character opted to give the prize away.

Three teenage girls were caught on CCTV browsing before making their move for the 6ft 6in Mumble. They dragged it through the car park at 3am on January 6 and into a blue van near the taxi bays, with three men inside.

Mumble should have been donated to Newfield Special School, Blackburn, days after it was taken.

Security guard Tim Larner, said: "The footage shows three girls enter the shop. Two break off and grab Mumble's hand before running off."
