Carol Service CYCLISTS and ramblers travelled from all over Suffolk and Essex to attend their 56th annual carol service in St Mary's Church, Lawford on Sunday afternoon. Every bit of space was taken up, the service proving as popular as ever with those present ranging in age from ten to more than 80. The congregation was welcomed by the rector, the Rev Pat Prestney, the address given by reader Margaret Southgate and the prayers led by the curate, the Rev Paul Mann.
Christmas Play A CAST of nearly 20, mainly youngsters, staged Christmas in the Market Place, in St Mary's Church, Lawford. There were two performances of the traditional nativity, which was well presented by a group of gypsies over two acts and 15 scenes on Saturday afternoon and evening.
The play was well acted and with enthusiasm by the youngsters, who were directed by Maggie Lulham. The only disappointment was how few people turned up to support them.
Taking part were: John Ball, Adam, Luke and Robert Duarte-Diaz, Maggie and Ray Lulham, Samantha Hughes, Emily Ainger, Caitlin Brookes, Emily Franks, Cameron Young, Isabelle Claydon, Elizabeth Damond, Laura Bailey, Anne Franks, Susie Hyman and Elizabeth Smy.
