A TEENAGER suffered burns to his face after trying to put out a fire started by arsonists outside a shop in Astley Bridge yesterday.

The boy was in the Computerstyle UK shop, in Blackburn Road, when he spotted the fire outside.

It had been started under a carport at the back of the shop.

The boy dashed outside to tackle the flames.

He was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital to be treated for the burns.

Firefighters were called to the incident at around 3.50pm yesterday and took half an hour to put out the blaze.

Gary Hodgson, Watch Manager for Bolton North, said: "The fire at the shop had been started deliberately.

"A teenage boy suffered burns to his face after trying to put it out.

"The fire started under a carport at the back of the shop and was not very large, about two foot square.

"We were there for half an hour and the police are now investigating it."
