THE festive season arrived in Hereford on Sunday with the annual Christmas lights switch-on.
Mayor Councillor Bob Preece sent out invites for a child from all of the city centre schools to help him turn the lights on and 13 children were selected.
Cynthia Spaull, from Hereford City Partnership, said: "High Town was pretty full and the event went off very well.
"I think most people liked the new lights."
After 12 years, it was decided the city needed new Christmas lights, which have been bought on a three-year lease, with new lights due in 2009.
