A DISTRAUGHT Worcester couple are offering a reward for the return of their beloved dog which went missing after the garden gate of their home was left open.

Julie and Richard Davis's 16-year-old Cairn terrier Sweet was last seen by the couple at about 9.15pm on Tuesday at their home in London Road when a charity collector came to their door.

However 51-year-old Mrs Davis thinks that when they left they did not shut the gate properly.

Mrs Davis, who works as a stock controller at Sainsbury's in Worcester city centre, said she initially thought Sweet was in his bed and it wasn't until another 45 minutes or so when she took their other dog outside that she realised he was missing.

Since then, they have been out on the streets looking for him and have contacted friends and neighbours to ask if they have seen him, but to no avail.

Mrs Davis said they have had Sweet - who is described as being a light brown colour and wearing a collar with his name on - since he was a puppy and would be offering a cash reward for his return.

She added: "We're really cut up about it and we're just hoping somebody has taken him in because he's never been away from us before and it's cold outside at the moment and obviously he's getting old."

Anyone who may know where Sweet is can contact the Davises on 01905 358784.
