KIDDERMINSTER Carolians' dismal form shows no signs of letting up after they slumped to a fifth straight Midlands Three West North defeat, losing 29-16 at Wolverhampton.

A young and inexperienced Marlpool Lane side, who suffered several late cry-offs, actually started brightly and 10 minutes of pressure was rewarded with a Tom Scandrett penalty.

But less than five minutes later Wolves led 7-3 after a charged down kick and a KCs mistake at the ensuing lineout resulted in a close range scrum for the hosts.

They managed to put their left wing over for a try in the corner which was well converted in the windy conditions.

Midway through the half the Wolves centre scythed through unopposed from a five-metre scrum to score under the posts and the two points were duly added.

Wolves held a 17-6 advantage at the interval with the Black County men slotting another penalty and Scandrett doing likewise to give KCs hope.

A good start to the second half was essential but a host of errors enabled Wolves to score a converted try which effectively killed off the game.

The visitors did then enjoy a much better 20 minute spell culminating in Chris Baldwin scoring his first senior try after some good work by Tom Maher. Any hopes of a comeback, however, were quickly dashed by a fourth Wolves try, while a late try for Maher was scant consolation.

Cleobury Mortimer suffered more disappointment when they were hammered 38-0 by high-flying Old Halesonians in Midlands Four West South.

They remain second-bottom.

Stourport's chances of eating into Bournville and Kings Norton's massive lead at the top of Midlands Five West North were hampered when their match with Five Ways OE was postponed.

A hefty 43-3 home defeat for Chaddesley Corbett against Redditch left the Fox Lane men second bottom in Midlands Six West South West.

There are no league fixtures involving Wyre Forest clubs this weekend.
