WEST HAM manager Alan Curbishley has hailed the performances of in-form forward Carlos Tevez.

Tevez has bagged three goals in his last three games, and has been a big factor in West Ham's recent revival.

Curbishley said: "His work ethic has captured the fans imagination, and he has taken that on board since he came back into the side."

The 23-year-old forward scored his first goal for the club against arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur, but Curbishley claims Tevez began to shine before that.

He said:"I think Carlos just decided about four or five weeks ago that the only way is make it change for yourself.

"He's prominent in most of our attacks, and is now trying to get in behind people and force the issue."

Curbishley continued: "Every now and then he over-indulges but that's what the West Ham fans are used to in their players. He gives us a bit of a spur in games and hopefully we can take it on from there."

Tevez's shock summer signing could result in the Irons being deducted points after being charged with breaking Premier League rules, but Tevez said he will do all he can for the Hammers.

The Argentine said: "I will do all I can to keep the club in the Premier League. When I scored against Tottenham, I went to the people and celebrated with them. They have supported me. The goal was for them, the emotion was for them."

Tevez believes that West Ham are now getting the best out of him because he is playing in his most natural position.

He continued: "It's true I struggled at first. You must be in supreme physical condition to play in the Premier League.

"Plus I couldn't find my rhythm. I played right midfield, left midfield, I was told to mark opponents.

"This is not my game. I am a striker, a goalscorer.

"That is my art. I am now playing in my best position. I was top scorer in Brazil, Argentina and the Olympics."
