THREE years on and Broom is now ready to celebrate the opening of its new village hall.

Thanks to a number of fundraising events and the hard work of residents and members of the Broom Village Hall Committee, the hall will be officially opened on Saturday at 5.30pm.

Committee member Roy Lester said they were grateful that everyone had the vision to see the potential of a new facility which would benefit the whole community.

He added: "Thanks also to Broom WI which had managed the old hall from the 1930s and then handed it over for use by the whole village.

"Little did the committee think a new hall could or would be constructed in such a short time."

Grants were made available from the Big Lottery Fund, BIFFA, DEFRA, Stratford District and Bidford Parish councils and Dunnington Baptist Church.

A plaque with the names of those who contributed will also be on permanent display.

The official opening will include drinks, a pig roast, disco and fireworks.
