LORD Truscott, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Energy, is reported to have said recently that there will be no subsidy or other support to help build new nuclear power stations in the UK.
But nuclear power companies are only required to pay a small fraction of the cost of insuring fully against a Chernobyl-style accident, or worse.
If we are to have a level playing field for different sources of energy, then this rather generous subsidy to the nuclear industry should be removed.
