A SERIES of public meetings will be held to discuss the proposed racecourse for Hyndburn and Ribble Valley.

Following two public meetings in Simonstone, further public meetings will be held on at Read CE Primary School on Friday, April 27, Monday, April 30, Wednesday, May 16, and Friday, May 18.

The first one will be restricted to villagers and businesses of Read and Simonstone only, while the other three will be open to all.

A business consortium backed with finance from the UK, Middle East and Russia is spearheading the proposed racecourse, which will straddle 371 acres at Altham in Hyndburn and Simonstone in Ribble Valley.

Ribble Valley Council leader John Hill, who is the councillor for Simonstone, as well as chairman of Simonstone Parish Council, said: "I can assure residents they will be given every opportunity to participate in the consultation process and I encourage them to attend one of the forthcoming meetings."
