A MAN was taken to hospital after he lost part of his ear in a fight at Burnley Wood Conservative Club.

Trouble broke out at the Branch Road club while an auction was being held.

Sgt Martin Selway, of Burnley Police, said: "We had various reports about what happened, but it appears that some people were not entirely happy with the items they had bid for, and fighting broke out.

This then led to an assault, where a man was left with part of his ear missing.

"Inquiries are still ongoing into the incident."

The injured man was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital to be treated for the lacerations to his ear.

The alleged attacker was due to be interviewed by police today.
