Mark Collier has taken some of the pressure off his Supermarine players in the midst of the biggest week of their season.

Currently second in South West Division One of the Southern League, Marine held runaway leaders Bashley to a draw on Saturday.

They host third-placed Paulton tonight and victory will give Marine a five-point stranglehold on the top play-off slot - which is rewarded by guaranteed home ties when they get under way.

While insisting his team will be gunning for victory this evening, Collier maintains that holding on to second place will not make or break Marine's promotion dream.

He said: "To finish in the first play-off place is the preference because you get the home draws but we've done quite well on the road this season - teams tend to come at us a bit more and it gives us the chance to hit them on the break.

"So I don't mind the prospect of going away - as long as the pitch is decent and allows us to play our football.

"I know it sounds boring but if we keeping grinding out results we will be in the play-offs - that has always been the objective and it still is.

"They are all big games now.

"Paulton are in good form. They had a blip at the weekend but they are coming off the back of a 12-match unbeaten run."

Paulton could snap up Marine's nemesis Steve Cook in time for the game.

The striker has haunted Hunts Copse with a hatful of goals for Taunton this season, although there are other clubs in the chase for Cook's signature.

Steve Jenkins returns to the Marine squad after building some match fitness with Ciren United but there is a doubt over Mark Draycott who has a dead leg.
