I HAVE been reading the letters regarding the collection of green bins for some months, whilst quietly fuming!

I pay Council Tax the same as everyone else in our road, at the same rates as the rest of Bromsgrove, yet we don't even have green bins! All our garden waste has to be transported to the tip at our own cost.

What really annoys me however is the amount of time and cost associated with these bins when there are more important matters at hand.

The state of local roads is now so bad that we cannot take our children to the park on their bikes without them being thrown off falling down the pot holes. My young sons now refuse to ride their bikes to the park because they don't want to hurt themselves when catapulted off their bikes by these holes, cutting their chins and knees in gravel filled muddy puddles.

The yellow circles that were painted around the larger potholes in response to our plea for action reassured us that they were to be dealt with - but now six months later the tarmac with the circles has crumbled into the holes along with our hopes of repair.

Should I now drive to the park, with the associated environmental damage, congestion etc this causes in an effort to ensure my sons don't turn into couch-potatoes, but can ride their bikes in relative safety?

Perhaps with the saving afforded to the council for not collecting any green bins they could repair the road and make it safe for the young and old alike!
