INSPECTORS from the Church of England have given St Helen's Primary School in Wheathampstead a glowing report, with the top "outstanding" grade in all categories.
The report, which follows praise from Ofsted but was compiled independently, as St Helen's is a church school, said the school encouraged all children to flourish.
The inspector concluded: "The promotion of self-esteem is paramount, and the children speak of how they are supported whether in resolving difficulties or taking decisions about their learning.
"The staff team work well together, are highly valued and are provided with professional development opportunities to support and enhance their work."
Headteacher Andrew Emeny said: "We are absolutely delighted with this report. This is a school with an ethos of respect, spiritual strength and confidence.
"The religious strengths of the school provide a bedrock for the children to learn life skills and to achieve their full potential."
