A GRANT worth nearly £1,000 has been handed to East Huntspill Village Hall to pave the way for more professional performances in the venue.
Awards For All, the lottery grants programme supported by the Arts Council, the Big Lottery fund, and the Heritage Lottery Fund, have given the premises £9,989 to complete the work to equip the stage.
Spokesman Kay Bennett said work has already started and it was hoped the project would be completed within three months, incorporating state of the art lighting equipment.
"We have kept the costs down by using adapted second hand equipment purchased from the sale of St Christopher's School when it closed," she said.
"We look forward to welcoming new activities and users to the village hall like drama, music, pantos, concerts - any activity where a stage is vital.
"So any budding producers out there get cracking."
