Leicester City 1, Leeds United 1

Leeds took a point at Leicester City but are still bottom of the Championship.

Robbie Blake put Leeds in front just before the interval but Leicester equalised within a minute and United were fortunate not to concede the winner in the second half.

Now Leeds go to Southend, who climbed out of the bottom three with a 90th-minute winner against Burnley, knowing they need a win if they are not to be cut adrift.

To make things worse, Jemal Johnson picked up a nasty injury and Alan Thompson collapsed on his return to action.

Dennis Wise made just one change from the team that beat Luton, Armando Sa coming in for the injured Eddie Lewis. And the Leeds boss threw caution to the wind on his bench, with David Healy, Ian Moore and Tresor Kandol joining the returning Thompson.

Healy was called into the action just before the interval when Johnson was stretch-ered off after colliding with former Bantams keeper Paul Henderson.

Robbie Blake's resulting free-kick hit the wall but the Leeds striker seized on the rebound and drove it home.

But from the kick-off Leicester went straight to the other end, Levi Porter clipped in a cross and diminutive Ian Hume climbed above the defence and headed home.

Wise made a second change on the hour, sending on Thompson for Seb Carole but the former Celtic man only lasted 11 minutes before collapsing with a repeat of his calf injury.

Casper Ankergren also pulled off a brilliant save to deny Stephen Hughes but the Leeds keeper then produced a poor punch but was let off when West Ham loanee Shaun Newton fired over the bar.

Leeds' only second-half effort was a Jonathan Douglas shot over the bar, but they hung on nervily to only their 11th away point of the season.
