NATASHA Dambok is hoping to raise £1,000 in memory of her mum by taking part in a Race for Life.

Natasha, aged 29, will be running five kilometres at Oulton Park in aid of Cancer Research UK on Sunday May 13.

More than 280 Race for Life events are taking place across the UK this year, and are hoping to bring together 80,000 women to raise £60 million.

Natasha lives in Alsager, and will be taking part in the race in memory of her mum Sue Beardmore, who died in October from ovarian cancer at the age of 50.

Running with her will be Natasha's friend Pippa Brady, who also lives in Alsager.

"My mum was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in August 2004, and our family was devastated," said Natasha.

"She bravely fought it for more than two years, overcoming the hurdles of operations and the effects of the treatment along the way, always with a smile.

"Sadly we were to be devastated again when last October she lost her fight and passed away, and life will never be the same.

"Events like Race for Life are an important way in which Cancer Research UK is able to fund its vital life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer."

Natasha works as a group sales support manager for Guardian Series Newspapers, and people can sponsor her by going online to the website www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/ndambok Natasha's sister Sophie, aged 23, is also raising money for charity, by doing a skydive later this year in aid of Christie Hospital in Manchester.
