WOLVES target Andrew Johns could be set to follow in Allan Langer's footsteps again after revealing he is a considering a State of Origin comeback.

Johns is expected to decide in May whether he will return to Wolves in 2008 and an Origin return this year would present the possibility of the Aussie great becoming the second player to represent his state while playing in Super League.

The first was Langer, who came out of Origin retirement to play for Queensland while on Warrington's books in 2001.

Joey masterminded New South Wales' Origin series win against Queensland in 2005 - months before his first spell with Wolves - and announced his retirement from representative football at the start of last year.

He has no plans to play for Australia again but, after missing Origin football in 2006, he has admitted that he will make himself available to play for New South Wales this year if his form merits it.

That is likely to be seen as a farewell series with the Blues if he does decide to return to Warrington next year, with Super League players not normally considered for Origin.

But like Langer, Johns' stature within the sport is such that he would have a chance of being selected for New South Wales next year if he wanted to continue in Origin.

The first game of this year's Origin series takes place in Brisbane on May 23, with further games in Sydney on June 13 and in Brisbane on July 4.

Johns is rated as 50/50 to make his comeback from concussion in Newcastle Knights' match at Canberra Raiders next Monday.
