Brighton's tourism hub could be about to move in to a gift shop.
Proposals have been put forward to change the gift shop at the Royal Pavilion into a Visit Brighton Information Centre.
The new office would replace the current one on St Bartholomew's Square. It is believed the location next to the city's prime tourist magnet would be more convenient for visitors.
The shop has sold Pavilion souvenirs for several decades. If the plans go through, it would be reduced to about half the size and would become a Brighton and Hove gift shop rather than a purely Pavilion one.
Ideas for the new space include a large plasma screen, which would be updated daily with details of theatre shows and other events happening across the city.
There would also be a new lilac colour scheme, chosen by conservators as more appropriate to the character of the historic palace, and new reception desks and people counters at the entrance.
A final decision on the application will be made by Brighton and Hove City Council's planners.
