BLACKBURN Rovers deserve all the plaudits and praise for their initiative in reducing the cost of season tickets.

But what about the poor old pensioners who sit in the Jack Walker lower central stand?

Their tickets have risen even by my ancient arithmetic calculations by near enough 30 per cent from £225 to £299.

Blackburn Rovers will counter this by saying that early payment will cost £270 - £299 next year.

I find this most mystifying that the lower central stand appears to be the only section victimised by this extraordinary rise in relation to the rest of the ground.

I have noticed that over the past two or three years a single OAP ticket has maintained a steady increase.

Is this a devious way of an ethnic cleansing of pensioners from that part of the ground?

Blackburn Rovers have stated the existing ticket holders can relocate to other cheaper parts of the stadium, but why uproot fans and friends who have sat together and supported Blackburn through thick and thin for donkeys' years.

I first saw Blackburn play Tranmere before the war when schools were issued with tickets for the old Riverside stand.

So have a thought Mr Williams, not every pensioner is loaded, they might not be your future supporters, but they have seen you through many rough patches.
