Guiseley's main aim has always been promotion to Conference North, and there is still a chance of reaching the play-offs, but a very nice sideline is having two cup finals to look forward to.

That is the position Terry Dolan's men find themselves in after a superb start to the month - three games unbeaten and semi-finals in the West Riding County Cup and UniBond League Chairman's Cup successfully negotiated.

The Premier Division outfit face teams from the lower tier of their league's structure in both finals. It will be Goole Town at Woodlesford, West Riding FA's headquarters, in the County Cup and Cammell Laird in the internal competition.

Both clubs, Lairds have the better chance, are competing for promotion to the Premier and will see a victory over Guiseley as a marker rather than merely a scalp.

That will fuel their desire in the respective games. Nevertheless, everyone at Nethermoor is delighted to have two opportunities to land a trophy.

"The County Cup is on Wednesday, April 11, the midweek after Easter," said Dolan.

"The timing could have been better, shall we say, as it will mean three games in a week with two in the league. But then it's the same for both sides, so no-one will have an unfair advantage.

"Let's just get on with it as I think we would prefer to be in this situation than not. I know the players are looking forward to it, the supporters definitely are, and myself and Mark Ellis will try our best to bring some silverware to this club."

Media officer and director Stuart Allen added: "Cammell Laird beat Bridlington 4-1 in the other Chairman's Cup semi. I know Brid haven't had the best of seasons but Laird's must be on form to win such a game so convincingly.

"Arrangements for that are up in the air, as we don't yet know if it will be at a neutral ground, the toss of a coin for home advantage or a two-legged final.

"There are a few options, and not even a date is confirmed, but two cup finals are certainly creating some interest and expectancy."
