BECKENHAM Swimming Club are the toast of south-east England yet again after wiping the board at the Kent County Swimming Championships.

As well as picking up the trophies for best men's club and best women's club for another year, the team between them walked off with a cool 106 golds, 72 silvers and 78 bronzes in the medal stakes.

It was also a great competition for the Casey family with Danny being the age group winner for 14-year-old boys and his sister Leah being the age group winner for 10-year-old girls.

There were 17 event best performances from Kunmi Ogunfeibo, Ellen Gandy, Michael Gunning, Amy Louise Kennard, Leisje Van der Velde, Chloe Ross and Leah Casey.

And to new county records were set, firstly Leisje Van der Velde did a fantastic 26.68secs in the ladies open 50m freestyle to pip team mates Chloe Hart and Rachel Gatford into second and third respectively.

Secondly, Ellen Gandy broke the record she set last year to set a new county record time of 2mins 0.85secs in the ladies open 200m freestyle.

And the Beckenham girls really stepped it up for the relays winning the:

- 200m freestyle relay for 13/14 years, 15/16 years and junior girls

- 200m medley relay for 13/14 years, 15/16 years and junior girls

- 400m Ladies open 400m freestyle relay

- 400m Ladies open 400m medley relay an amazing 20 seconds ahead of their nearest rival

The 15/16 years and open swimmers were Ellen Gandy, Chloe Ross, Chloe Hart, Leisje Van der Velde and Amy Louise Kennard.

Together with Stephanie Denny and Rachel Gatford the girls are representing Beckenham at the British Swimming Championships being held in Manchester.
